What is the NHA CCMA exam?
The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential is awarded by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA), one of the most recognized and respected certifications in allied health. Earning your CCMA opens doors to clinical roles in physician offices, urgent care centers, hospitals, and specialty practices nationwide.
What topics does the CCMA exam cover?
The NHA CCMA exam has 180 multiple-choice questions and a 3-hour time limit. Of those 180 questions, 150 are scored and 30 are unscored "pretest" questions that the NHA includes to test out future exam content. You won’t be able to tell which are the pretest questions, but they also won't affect your score if you get them wrong.

Meet the NHA's eligibilityrequirements
The NHA offers two routes to qualify for the CCMA exam. You only need to meet one:
Complete a medical assistant training program
Programs are available at community colleges, postsecondary institutions, and online. Just make sure your program was completed within the last 5 years.

Once you've confirmed your eligibility, head to the NHA website to create an account and submit your application. You'll need to upload your eligibility documentation before you can move forward.

Schedule your exam date
After your application is approved, you'll choose a date and format that works for you. The CCMA exam is available at approved in-person testing centers as well as online via remote proctoring, so you have flexibility in how and where you test.
