1-year program

Attend online classes, in-person lab days, and clinical rotations with experienced instructors. Complete daily assignments, mock exams, and simulations to build and strengthen your foundational knowledge.

NCLEX-PN examination and PN-license

Prepare for your NCLEX-PN with confidence. Students complete an in-depth review of knowledge, skills, and test-taking strategies, delivered through content review, practice exams, and strategic test-taking skill development. Upon successful passage, apply for your PN license.

Begin work as a Practical Nurse

Enter into your first PN position with confidence in your nursing skills. Our program incorporates leadership skills for managing complex patient assignments and growing into leadership roles across different healthcare environments, including theories on leadership.

Hands-on Medical Assistant training

PN 101: Introduction to Medical Terminology

This course introduces the foundational elements of medical terminology, including roots, prefixes, and suffixes, and links medical terms to anatomy and physiology.

Students will acquire the knowledge necessary to confidently navigate, understand, and communicate with patients, family, other members of the health care team and in the medical record using appropriate medical terminology.

PN 102: Anatomy and Physiology

Students will learn the anatomy and physiological processes of each body system, key causes of diseases for each body system, basic structure of tissues and organs and processes involved with maintaining homeostasis.

PN 104: Pharmacology and Dosage Calculations

Students will learn the concepts of pharmacokinetics, drug classifications, dosage calculation, medication administration, legal and ethical considerations and patient education related to medication administration including Intravenous therapy.

The laboratory portion of the course will focus on the psychomotor skills necessary for safe medication administration and initiation of IV therapy to patients across the lifespan with mandatory skills competency requirements for successful course completion.

PN 105: Medical Surgical Nursing

Students will learn to implement the nursing process and utilize clinical judgment to care for patients with common disease processes and surgical procedures across body systems.

Advanced nursing skills will be introduced in the skills laboratory portion of the course with mandatory skills competency requirements for successful course completion.

Following successful demonstration of laboratory skill competency, students will apply the knowledge and skills learned in their care of patients in the clinical setting.

PN 106: Geriatric Nursing

Students will learn about concepts and diseases related to aging and changes in nursing care specific to the geriatric population. In the laboratory portion of the course, students will utilize simulated scenarios to further develop critical thinking, clinical judgment and reinforce knowledge of geriatric nursing.

These mandatory scenarios must be completed with a satisfactory grade for successful course completion. Students will apply the knowledge learned in their care of patients in the clinical setting.

PN 107: Mental Health Nursing

Students will be introduced to the fundamental principles, theories, and methodologies that shape the field of psychology. Students will learn nursing interventions, therapeutic communication techniques, and patient care management strategies when caring for patients with mental health, neurocognitive and developmental disabilities.

In the laboratory portion of the course, students will utilize simulated scenarios to further develop critical thinking, clinical judgment and reinforce knowledge of mental health nursing. Students will apply the knowledge learned in their care of patients in the clinical setting.

PN 108: Maternal-Newborn Nursing

Students will learn about the concepts and diseases related to pregnancy, their effects on newborn health, and related nursing care. In the laboratory portion of the course, students will utilize both in person and virtual simulated scenarios in place of clinical to further develop critical thinking, clinical judgment and reinforce knowledge of maternal-newborn nursing.

PN 109: Pediatric Nursing

Students will learn about concepts of growth and development, family structures, and disease processes specific to the pediatric patient. In the laboratory portion of the course, students will utilize both in person and virtual simulated scenarios to further develop critical thinking, clinical judgment and reinforce knowledge of pediatric nursing.

PN 110: Transition to Practice and NCLEX Preparation

This course is designed for nursing students to complete an in-depth review of knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to confidently approach and excel in the NCLEX-PN licensure examination.

Additionally, this course explores leadership skills essential for managing complex patient assignments or growing in leadership roles in a variety of healthcare environments.

Students will expand their knowledge on the principles of prioritization and time-management, ethical decision-making, professionalism, and explore theories on leadership.
