The state of Wyoming has no certification requirements for medical assistants. However, 96% of employers require or encourage certification for their medical assistants. Medical assistants in Wyoming commonly perform both clinical and administrative tasks. Wyoming has specific language regarding what a medical assistant is allowed to do, including: taking vital signs, preparing patients for the physician’s care, reporting patients’ signs or symptoms, administering basic first aid, assisting with patient examinations or treatments, applying and removing bandages and dressings, removing sutures, and performing basic laboratory procedures.
Wyoming also requires specific training hours for medical assistants who administer medications or perform venipuncture. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, managing patient records, performing medical billing and coding, and more.

Yes! We are partnered with the NHA. All our graduates are eligible to take the NHA's national medical assistant certification once they successfully complete the program.
Medical assistants are unlicensed individuals who work under the supervision of a licensed registered nurse or medical doctor. They cannot examine, diagnose, or treat patients independently. They may not administer medications unless they have completed the required training hours specified by Wyoming regulations, and may not perform procedures for which they have not received appropriate training.
