Medical assistants in Michigan perform both clinical and administrative tasks. Under Michigan law, clinical duties can include: measuring vital signs, performing EKGs, performing pulmonary function testing, administering oral medications, obtaining specimens, performing wound care, and performing dressing changes. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, managing patient records, performing medical billing and coding, and more.

Yes! We are partnered with the NHA. All our graduates are eligible to take the NHA's national medical assistant certification once they successfully complete the program.
Medical assistants are unlicensed individuals who work under the supervision of a healthcare provider licensed in Michigan. They cannot examine, diagnose, or treat patients independently. They may not administer intravenous medications and may not perform procedures beyond those permitted under Michigan's scope of practice guidelines and for which they have received appropriate training.
